Richmond Tafe - Equestrian Skills Training Block at Sydney International Equestrian Centre

Following on the heels of Equitana, the staff & students from Richmond Tafe are off to SIEC, the Sydney International Equestrian Centre at Horsley Park. Students from the Performance Horse Courses have the unique opportunity to refine their practical Horse Management and Riding Skills using the world class training facilities on offer at SIEC.

Under the guidance of Industry Experts and EFA Equestrian Coaches, the Students have the opportunity to bring along their own horses for the 4 days and stay at the venue. At this months SIEC, students after two full days of training will perform in a Dressage Competition on the Thursday followed by a Derby Competition on the Friday.

Horse Activities for November at Richmond Tafe

The Month of November is shaping up to be a busy month for staff and students of the Performance Horse Courses at Richmond Tafe.
November starts with the Farming Small Areas Expo at the Hawkesbury Showground on Friday & Saturday November 7 & 8. Richmond Tafe will be hosting a whole range of Horse Activities relating to the Performance Horse Courses that they offer at the College.

Part of the display and demonstration schedule for the Horse Feature will include "Painting the Muscles, Bones and Internal Organs" on live horses. Basic Horse Handling, Training a Horse to a Stock Whip, Basic First Aid for Horses, Nutrition Talks, Leather and Whip Plaiting.
Draught horses will be featured with a basic introduction to Harnessing a Draught Horse, along with some wonderful representatives of the Heavy Horse Breeds which will be on show in all their finery.



The staff from the Farrier and Ornamental Blacksmithing courses will be there again this year to display their unique skills of the trade. So if you are interested in becoming a blacksmith or just want to learn how to shoe or trim your own horse, these are the guys to teach you!

Gates open to the Expo at 9 am both Friday & Saturday November 7 & 8 at the Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon.

Farming Small Areas Expo November 7 & 8, 2008


Held at Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon, on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 of November, the Farming Small Areas Expo offers a host of things to see and do for the aspiring horse enthusiast.
"New at this year’s expo will be two days of horse handling, grooming and basic care displays conducted in association with the TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute Richmond College
The Staff and Students from the Performance Horse Courses at Richmond TAFE College will be there to demonstrate their horse handling skills as well as showcase all the Equine Courses on offer at the College.

Richmond College Spring Open Day

On Sunny Saturday, September 20 Richmond TAFE had their College Spring Open Day.

The Equine Centre of the College showcased their wonderful new facilities and provided a colourful array of horse exhibits and demonstrations based on the range of Equine Industry Study courses on offer at the College.
